Student Visa

Why Choose the Canada?

Canada remains one of the most sought-after destinations for higher education among international students due to its exceptional quality of education and globally recognized universities. With a robust curriculum and valuable degrees, Canada offers an enriching academic experience. If your course exceeds six months, you will require a Study Permit (Canada Student Visa). For courses shorter than six months, a study permit is not mandatory.

Why Study in Canada?

  • Globally Recognized Qualifications: Canadian degrees and diplomas are respected worldwide.

  • Affordable Education: Competitive tuition fees compared to other countries.

  • Multicultural Society: Thrive in a diverse and inclusive environment.

  • Safe and Healthy Communities: Enjoy a high standard of living.

  • Stipend Internships: Opportunities for paid internships during your studies.

  • Post-Study Work Opportunities: Availability of post-study work visas.

  • Pathway to Permanent Residency: Potential to settle in Canada after graduation.

Intakes in Canada

Canada offers three primary intakes:

  • Fall (September): The most popular intake with a wide range of courses available.

  • Winter (January): A good option if you miss the fall intake.

  • Summer (May): Limited courses available; ideal for specialized programs.

Additional intakes may be available in July and October for select courses.

Understanding the Difference: Study Permit vs. Student Visa

It’s important to distinguish between a Study Permit and a Student Visa:

    • Study Permit: A document issued by the Canadian government that allows you to study at Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs). A study permit does not permit entry into Canada; you will need a visitor visa or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to enter.

    • Student Visa: This is the document that allows you to enter Canada as a student. Once you receive your study permit, you will be issued a visa or eTA automatically, based on your country of origin.

If you’re applying for a Study Permit, it’s recommended to apply 6-12 months before your course start date. The mandatory documents include a valid passport, a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI), proof of sufficient funds to cover your tuition and living expenses, a medical exam, and biometrics. The processing time for a Study Permit varies, typically taking around 8 weeks.

For a Student Visa, you should apply 6-9 months before your course begins. The required documents include a valid passport, proof of funds, health insurance, and proof of English language proficiency (such as IELTS or TOEFL scores). The fee for a Student Visa is CAD 150, and the processing time is approximately 3-4 weeks. By preparing your application well in advance and ensuring all necessary documents are in order, you can navigate the process smoothly and focus on your educational goals in Canada.
